The Touch ID fingerprint sensor currently resides beneath the Home button, but a patent filed by Apple and published by the US Patent and Trademark Office in February 2015 hints that the company is interested in making a Touch ID sensor that’s built-in to the display.
The iPhone 7 is expected to be released early September. Apple has yet to comment on any of the reports or confirm a release date.
For those outside of North America, the “Bordeaux” style was released at select locations in Europe, and the “Mint Foam” colorway dropped in China and Japan.
