Dissolved a few days ago the rumor that James Cameron will produce a fantastic film based on the scenario by Shane Salerno ( “Aliens vs. Predator Requiem”, “Armageddon”), turned out to be true. The only difference is that the film, as it turned out will be not the “Doomsday Protocol”, but a remake of the 1966 classic film “Fantastic Voyage”.
In the original, which was shot by Richard Fleischer and which received two Oscars (for special effects and the work of the artist), a special submarine with five scientists on board has been reduced to microscopic size and put into the bloodstream of the dying man. The purpose of the crew – in the shortest time to destroy a blood clot in the brain of the patient.
The new “Fantastic Journey” will be filmed in 3D – using the most revolutionary technologies that Cameron has used during the shooting of the “Avatar”. It seems that “Fox” is going to give the green light for project as soon as possible – regardless of the plans about the continuation of the “Avatar” (the sequel will to go into production if the film will bring a decent cash).
Not so long ago, Roland Emmerich was interested in the remake of the “Fantastic Voyage”, but eventually switched to the picture “2012″. Later there were rumors that the project director will be Tarsus Singh (“Cell” and “Fall”).
